Getting Involved

“There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love.”
Washington Irving

Grief is a natural and genuine reaction to any important loss you have experienced.  We live in a world that often gives us very specific messages about how we “should” express our emotional reactions to the death of a friend or loved one. Yet, grief is a unique and individual experience.

If you or someone you love is grieving the death of a family member or friend please know that Yolo Hospice has been providing bereavement support to meet the unique needs of individuals in our community since 1979.

Many find comfort from being with others who are facing similar grief issues and individuals who regularly attend group meetings report a greater sense of acceptance and understanding of their loss. Yolo Hospice offers a variety of professionally facilitated group experiences that provide emotional support for individuals coping with the grieving process. Please let us offer you our support.

Davis, Yolo Hospice

Note: This group has been postponed. Start date will be determined when additional participants register. Please call for update.

Feeling ready to move forward? The early stages of grief are consumed with feelings of numbness, disbelief, confusion, fatigue, deep yearing, and waves of grief. As time passes and the intensity of grief lessens, a sense of possibility, feeling of hope, and ability to imagine ways that one can begin to move forward begin to set in. The questions for many become: "What's next?" "How do I do this?" "Where do I go from here?" "Who am I now?" This five-week group aims to provide support for the bereaved as they begin the phase of reinvesting in life. Due to the group's focus, it is recommended that at least a year has passed since the participant's loss. Pre-registration is required.
To register, contact Yolo Hospice at (800) 491-7711 or (530) 601-5756.
