Hospice Aides

Our hospice aides are trained in personal care of the patient.

Patients in hospice care often require or benefit from assistance grooming such as, hair washing, bathing, bed linen changing and other light housekeeping duties. Those confined to bed, as often occurs in the late stages of a terminal illness, may require additional care. Common needs include assistance in moving to and from bed, feeding and toilet assistance.

Our hospice aides are available to assist the family or other caregiver in providing this personal care. They can also identify and report needs to the nurse in charge and offer support and encouragement to both patient and family.

If the patient is in a Skilled Nursing or Assisted Living Facility, supplementation of these services can also be arranged.

Quotes

Judy Norton
"Coping with terminal illness is all consuming for patient and family. As a hospice nurse, I feel it is most important to advocate, respect and use the knowledge we have to make the end of life the most comfortable it can be while always keeping in mind the unique needs of each patient."
~Jody Norton, RN
