Tree Planting

In November, Yolo Hospice planted a Memory Tree for National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. At the planting ceremony, a blessing was placed on the tree, prayers were offered for those who have died in our community and attendees were invited to place ribbons on the tree in memory of their own deceased loved ones.

One of Yolo Hospice’s roles is to provide bereavement services to the communities it serves. Ceremonies help the living mourn and work through their grief. Through the Memory Tree, the people of Yolo, Solano, Colusa, Yuba and Sacramento Counties will have another tool to aid them in their grieving process. The Memory Tree ceremony will be an annual event open to the public.

Quotes

Judy Norton
"Coping with terminal illness is all consuming for patient and family. As a hospice nurse, I feel it is most important to advocate, respect and use the knowledge we have to make the end of life the most comfortable it can be while always keeping in mind the unique needs of each patient."
~Jody Norton, RN
